Master Gardener Demonstration Gardens
Master Gardeners of King County maintain nine demonstration gardens, two youth gardens and one outreach garden. In each of these gardens, the community can see firsthand the types of plants that grow well in our area and learn recommended planting practices and overall garden care. The hours of operation for each demo garden will vary, but they are typically open to the public during daylight hours.
Demonstration Gardens
Description
Small garden located within a city park, it showcases how to integrate organically-grown food crops, ornamentals and natives in a small space. A drip irrigation system shows how to better use and conserve water. Master Gardeners also maintain a small dedicated pollinator-friendly garden.
Produce (vegetables, fruits and herbs) is donated to local Northshore programs aimed at increasing food security.

Pfingst Animal Acres Park is open every day from sunrise to sunset. Master Gardeners are on site weekly 9am-11am throughout the growing season (1st and 3rd Wednesdays, 2nd and 4th Saturdays).
Description

Description
An acre of themed beds joined together by gravel paths, the Gardens border a meadow, coastal forest, and the Park’s six-mile trail system. A one-of-a-kind Seattle Park feature, the Gardens’ mission is to help home gardeners envision a backyard wildlife habitat by using natives and adapted non-natives in an informal landscape style. Visitors can see a wide variety of plants that thrive without fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides—protecting the Piper’s Creek Watershed and salmon habitat. Description
This vegetable and perennial garden is located in a diverse community at El Centro de la Raza on Beacon Hill. Master Gardeners teach all aspects of sustainable and organic gardening. All harvests are donated to local food banks, giving hubs, & meal programs.

Description
The Neely-Soames Homestead Demonstration Garden was developed with the city of Kent around an existing historic homestead originally built in 1885 along the Green River Trail. The one-acre homestead features a food bank garden containing raised and in-ground beds with drip irrigation and an herb garden. The whimsical and rustic grounds also host a fairy garden, fruit trees, native plants, and several perennial beds.

Description
The demonstration garden is located within the Soos Creek Botanical Garden. Master Gardeners manage the planting and harvesting of the fruit and vegetable gardens.
Master Gardeners are on site to answer gardening questions Wednesday and Saturday from 10am-12:30pm.
All produce is donated to the Auburn food bank.

Description
This small Seattle City Park in Ballard is a landscape display garden within a residential neighborhood. Fragrance and winter interest plants are part of the design. Fruits from the garden are donated to the Ballard food bank. The back half of this lot features a city P-Patch.

Description
Tribal Life Trail garden focuses on plants used by native peoples of the Pacific Northwest, providing an educational platform for learning of the foods, medicines, and other uses of these plants. The trail-style demo garden is about 270 feet long at the forest edge along the arboretum meadow.

Description
Vashon Master Gardeners’ Demonstration Garden is being developed on the site of Mukai Farm and Garden, here on Vashon Island. Mukai, a National Historic Register site, consists of a renovated 1930’s home, a beautiful Japanese garden and a fruit barreling plant built in 1926 currently undergoing reconstruction. Working with Friends of Mukai, we are planting a pollinator garden in the west meadow that will incorporate both native Japanese plants and native West Coast flowers. We welcome you to join us as we grow our new garden. Help us build a beautiful and healthy habitat for birds, bees, and butterflies.

School and Youth Gardens
Description
Interactive and educational, 1/4-acre garden for children and families. Free classes and community stewardship events on the 2nd Saturday of each month as well as other dates from March-October. See https://magnusonchildrensgarden.org/ for more details.

Description
This garden is in a courtyard in a public high school. Extension Master Gardeners collaborate with the Culinary Arts and Work Experience classes to grow and maintain the edible, ornamental, and native plant beds. During the school year, the produce is used by the students. In the Summer, the produce is donated to a local church to feed members of the community. The gravel and concrete paths are wheelchair accessible. Directions: Enter the school parking lot at the intersection of Fremont Ave N and N173rd St. The garden is in the NW corner of the school building, near the red sign.

Outreach Gardens
Description
Master Gardeners maintain two vegetable gardens and the extensive perennial and shrub plantings at the Seattle Ronald McDonald House, where families of seriously ill children stay. They work with corporate volunteer groups periodically on larger garden projects. These garden areas are not open to the public.
